MT. PLEASANT, Mich., March 14, 2023 — The Care Store and Mt. Pleasant Agency are teaming up during March Madness for a toilet paper drive. The drive begins on March 14 and will end on April 3, 2023, lining up with the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament.
People can drop off rolls of toilet paper to Mt. Pleasant Agency at 119 S. Franklin St. in Mt. Pleasant during normal business hours. They will also accept check donations written out to The Care Store. All donations will be delivered to The Care Store by Mt. Pleasant Agency staff after the drive ends.
“We reached out to The Care Store because we were interested in doing a community service project,” said Kelly Hudson, communications director for Mt. Pleasant Agency. “It became clear right away that a toilet paper drive would be the most beneficial for the people in our community.”
Julia Eigenbrood, Executive Director of The Care Store shared the following facts:
- Almost every single shopper at The Care Store takes toilet paper home.
- Toilet paper is their most needed item.
- During the pandemic alone, it’s estimated that The Care Store gave out over 50,000 rolls of toilet paper.
The Care Store provides commonly needed grocery items that are not covered under the Michigan Bridge card to qualifying individuals. Their store is located in the Strickler Non-Profit Center. To learn more about The Care Store, visit their website at thecarestore.org.
